Furniture from decks already ridden to death
.webp)
The work
Chairs and tables built from skateboards broken in use, kept in the state the riding left them.
Notes
A deck does not wear out evenly. It snaps along the grain, in one place, at speed, and the break is particular to how it was ridden. That break is the most specific thing about the board and it usually goes in the bin.
Here the break is the join. Two failures meet and become a leg, or a seat, or the edge of a table. Because no two boards fail the same way, no two pieces sit the same way, and none of them is squared up afterwards.
Shot in the studio against nothing, then printed as a zine so the objects and the graphics live in the same place.
Broken skateboard decks, steel frame. Studio photography and zine.
