The work

Prints pulled directly from the branching forms and from the hand, layered until the impression stops reading as an object.

Notes

These are not drawings of the sculptures. The sculptures were inked and pressed, so the paper carries the actual surface: the pits, the texture, the places that took ink and the places that refused.

Layering is the method. Each pass sits on the one before it, slightly out of register, until the image carries more history than subject. Somewhere in that stack the branch stops being legible as a branch.

The hand prints work the same way and answer the same question. What is left when you press the maker into the surface instead of the object.
